Our Full Review

Glossier launched in 2014 with a radically simple premise: beauty products should enhance your skin, not cover it up. A decade later, the brand has become shorthand for "millennial beauty" — the pink pouches, the Instagram-friendly packaging, the friend-recommending-friend distribution model.

The hero products deserve their reputation. Boy Brow is a tinted eyebrow gel that takes 30 seconds to apply and genuinely looks like you have naturally full brows. Cloud Paint, a gel-cream blush, blends with fingers in seconds and gives a natural flush that powder blushes struggle to replicate. Balm Dotcom lip balm and Milky Jelly Cleanser have earned cult followings through genuine performance, not just marketing.

Glossier's strength is approachability. Every product is designed to be applied with fingers, requires minimal technique, and is almost impossible to over-apply. For someone intimidated by a Sephora wall of options, Glossier's curated, minimal lineup is a relief. The "skin first, makeup second" philosophy genuinely works.

Where Glossier falls short is depth. The skincare line is basic — cleanser, moisturizer, serum, and a few treatment products. If you have specific skin concerns (acne, hyperpigmentation, aging), you'll need to look elsewhere. The color cosmetics range, while well-edited, lacks options for full-coverage foundation or dramatic looks.

Since expanding into Sephora in 2023, Glossier has reached beyond its direct-to-consumer roots. The retail partnership gives new customers a chance to try products in person, though it somewhat dilutes the brand's original DTC exclusivity. The pricing ($12-$35 for most items) is fair for the quality, though you're undeniably paying a brand premium over comparable products from brands like e.l.f. or NYX.
